Howard Community College recognizes that the separation of church and state does not necessarily prohibit a student or employee from observing his or her religious beliefs in an educational setting.
Within the limits of its mission to serve the educational needs of Howard County, the college will strive to accommodate the desire of students and/or employees to observe their religious beliefs. 棋完美视讯 will provide a space on campus to accommodate faith-based or religious practices for students and employees. Furthermore, students and employees have the right to pray individually or in groups and/or discuss their religious views if they are not disrupting the teaching and learning processes or compelling others to participate.
The college does not officially observe religious holidays as religious events; however, the college will endeavor to accommodate students and employees who wish to observe their religious holidays. In accordance with Maryland state law, Howard Community College will provide reasonable academic accommodations for students to practice sincerely held faith-based or religious beliefs. Reasonable academic accommodations include providing excused absences for students to observe faith-based or religious holidays or participate in religious activities. This also includes allowing alternative accommodations for missing an examination or other academic requirement. Students may be asked to provide and should comply with a request for minimal and reasonable documentation to demonstrate the need for academic accommodations.
棋完美视讯 staff and faculty will not question the sincerity of belief and will not retaliate against students or staff who are engaged in religious activity protected by this policy. The academic complaint and grievance procedure will be available to protect compliance with this policy.
