As the county’s primary hub for higher learning, we are proud to meet our students where they dream and serve our community by providing pathways to success.
×ãÇò²©²ÊÂÛ̳ Opens Doors to Opportunity
Howard Community College welcomed its first students on October 12, 1970, and since then has been providing a high quality, affordable education to students across Howard County and the state of Maryland. What started as one building on farmland has grown to a bustling 14-building, 120-acre campus.
×ãÇò²©²ÊÂÛ̳ Trains Howard County’s Workforce
×ãÇò²©²ÊÂÛ̳ provides certification and licensing courses, along with training programs to enhance workforce skills across various industries, including business, healthcare, childcare, technology, and trades.
Training & Development Solutions by Howard Community College is focused on growing, evolving, and maximizing the region’s professional talent by providing customized training to businesses, nonprofits, and government agencies.
×ãÇò²©²ÊÂÛ̳ Supports the Howard County Economy
×ãÇò²©²ÊÂÛ̳ is a wise investment not only for students, but for state and local governments as well. For every $1 invested in ×ãÇò²©²ÊÂÛ̳, state and local governments gain $1.40 in added tax revenue and public sector savings.
×ãÇò²©²ÊÂÛ̳ invests about $385 million annually into the local economy, the equivalent of 4,300 jobs. In fact, 1 out of every 60 jobs in Howard County is supported by the activities of ×ãÇò²©²ÊÂÛ̳ and its students.
×ãÇò²©²ÊÂÛ̳ Nurtures the Next Generation
×ãÇò²©²ÊÂÛ̳ cultivates opportunities for upcoming generations of scholars by providing resources to specifically serve the unique needs of student parents, including a structured cohort, the Parent Scholars Program.
In addition to support for student parents, the College’s two-generational approach to higher education supports a variety of youth programs including Kids on Campus, the YEP! Youth Sports Clinics, and a Boys & Girls Club – the first club in residence at a Maryland community college.
×ãÇò²©²ÊÂÛ̳ serves thousands of dual enrollment students annually. Dual enrollment allows high school students to get a JumpStart ahead and gain exposure to college coursework, increase college success and explore careers and interests.
×ãÇò²©²ÊÂÛ̳ Celebrates Art in the Heart of Howard County
Each year, the Horowitz Visual and Performing Arts Center presents the diverse work of professional and student artists to the campus community and the greater Howard County community. Seasons regularly include classical music performances, modern musicals and classic plays, contemporary dance concerts, inspiring arts exhibits and so much more.
×ãÇò²©²ÊÂÛ̳ Strengthens Workforce Pathways Through Registered Apprenticeships
Through an innovative “earn while you learn” model, apprenticeship students pair coursework with hands-on training, preparing for lucrative, in-demand careers. Apprentices make meaningful professional connections and develop practical skills across a wide array of industries such as HVACR, child care, hospitality management, and accounting — ×ãÇò²©²ÊÂÛ̳'s newest apprenticeship program.
Registered Apprenticeships provide a high-quality, industry-driven career pathway, enabling employers to cultivate their future workforce while apprentices gain paid work experience, progressive wage increases, classroom instruction, and a nationally recognized credential.
